Few would disagree that Britain suffers from low growth, stagnant living standards and a divided body politic. Recent ‘events’ around the world have only compounded the challenges faced by successive governments.
Jeremy Hunt was Chancellor during one of those shocks, forced to navigate the economy out of both inflation and recession. He argues that despite widespread pessimism, Britain still has a lot going for it – the third largest technology ecosystem in the world, a huge financial services sector, globally admired universities and respected institutions. What's more, the solutions to our economic malaise are in plain sight if we are willing to learn from what works elsewhere.

First appointed Secretary of State for Health in September 2012, he then served as Foreign Secretary from July 2018 to July 2019, and Chancellor of the Exchequer from October 2022 to July 2024. Before his election as an MP, Jeremy ran his own educational publishing business, Hotcourses. He also set up a charity to help AIDS orphans in Africa in which he continues to play an active role.
